On 5 November (gosh - a lifetime ago now!) I was thrilled to attend a public launch for my first book The Residents: Made in Wellington at Museum Wellington, thanks to the team at Museum Wellington and Experience Wellington.
Myself, and three of the people featured in the book, spoke to a full harbour board room of lovely Residents supporters (and friends and family) about all things Wellington, COVID-19 Lockdown and what we should expect for the future of the city.
Featured guests included Christopher Tubbs (DJ at Club 121), Talia Soloa (Layplan) and Sophie Kaysoylides (The Greek Food Truck). It was a fascinating evening getting to hear from the people I’ve interviewed in my book and all be together in the same room. I also got to meet some fabulous supporters who came along to enjoy the night. I believe that the conversation was recorded so when it is produced I’ll post here (I’m currently unsure when this will be but I’ll follow it up).
Snacks were kindly provided by Museum Wellington and the beverages were sponsored by Luna Estate winery, Parrotdog Beer and Daily Organics Kombucha. Everyone had a fantastic time and I was generally chuffed by the whole affair. Many thanks to everyone who helped to put this together, especially the talented Violette Squire and Deputy Director of Museum Wellington Aaron Carter (who used to flat with Christopher in Christchurch purely by coincidence - they hadn’t seen each other in over twenty years! Proves my theory that everyone in New Zealand really knows one another somehow - especially in Wellington).
You can buy a copy of the book from the Museum Wellington Store should you happen to be passing.
Check out the great photos that the Museum Wellington team got below.
Notes on my dress and hair: I had a lovely updo by my friend hairdresser David Playle and my dress is Wilson Trollope new season, which I got a 30% discount on as a blogger. It was my idea. I received no payment for anything in this blog or for this event.
