...let's be real. Because that elasticated waistband life is what we are all about.
It's already almost June and guys, let's be real - those exercise goals we had from January have gone right out the window.
I listened to a great podcast last week called 'Ctrl, Alt, Delete' with Emma Gannon. This woman had one of the best podcast series I've ever heard so I would strongly recommend that if you are a feminist who likes self-help style philosophy like me that you go and give it a listen. Her interview with Lena Dunham was especially good, particularly because it made me feel quite warm to Lena Dunham who while I admire, I've sometimes questioned after watching interviews with her on TV (it is an episode on Graham Norton that what done it). ANYWAY - in the interview she says to Emma that the reason she gets so much done is because she doesn't exercise and she doesn't leave the house. When I heard this, it was like an angel reaching from the sky to help lift me up out of my guilt. It has been sooo long since I went to yoga (at least another YouTube crush Lydia Elise Millen admitted she hadn't been either in a recent video - and boy is she perfection on a stick normally!).
But this doesn't change one important thing - my love of Ipanema Girl exercise wear and how it makes me feel when I wear it!
When I pop on my Ipanema Girl exercise wear, it actually switches my mind off. It's so easy to wear and you see that they really are that nice balance between firm (i.e. hold in the wobbly bits) and comfortable. They ship to Wellington from their Auckland base where they have imported Brazillian fitness wear - hurray! They have an aesthetic that’s easy to spot; panelled leggings, often in bright colours, all high-waisted and with mix-and-matching crop and bra tops. Everything’s soft, brilliantly made and makes you feel like you’re part of the pilates squad the minute you put it on (even if you're just walking to the dairy).
A couple of tips if you do fancy buying anything. Firstly the sizing is more on the small side. I can squeeze my muffin top into a small, but it fits much more comfortably into a medium – especially with the leggings. Also the full length leggings, in my opinion, are much more versatile and the way to go.
If you’re going to invest in Ipanema Girl then the first priority has to be leggings. Whilst the tops, crops and jumpers are super nice, they are all things you can substitute with a singlet or crop from somewhere else (if you have to just pick one thing). The leggings are unlike anything you’d find anywhere else. I like how they’re a little bit branded, but in a way that isn’t super obvious. I also can happily report that these leggings perform super well, whether you are lounging at home eating biscuits, going for a nice walk or sweating it out at the gym or hot yoga - and they are so nice and firm they avoid the dreaded VPL. Now that's a pretty thought, isn't it!
I am thrilled with these pretty lace look leggings. They go with anything black, grey or white which is perfect for my wardrobe which has quite a few muted tones in it. Also, they are fun to feel because of the texture (not to sound like a creep). If you like black and white like me, these are going to be right up your alley - but there is so much variety you could get ANY look from Ipanema Girl.
Ipanema Girl were keen to do a giveaway and so I thought it would be awesome for one of you guys to try these out yourselves. I thought ya'll deserved something quite major for sticking with me for this long so this is a perfect treat (they are valued at around $120). You just need to subscribe to my YouTube here and like Ipanema Girl on Instagram. Simple.
The giveaway will be open from today, 29 May until 2 June (so one week). Feel free to enter with multiple accounts if you have them. As for me - I could say I'll be walking up Mount Victoria, making best use of these - but I might well be walking around Wellington pretending to be active in my Ipanema leggings before going home and binge watching YouTube. Whatever way you roll, I hope you enter!
