Each week, The Residents asks a Wellington local to describe their typical, capital day
Nick
Generally I am up by 7.
On an Okewa Day, we might have some sort of meeting with our graphic designer, or more of a strategy session. A day where we have something structured around an event - we meet somewhere like Cuba Street for a drink or coffee - and generally any other work being done is from home. Work on the business plan, admin, social media stuff.
At lunchtime I would take a break on our sunny deck at home. Nevada and I tend to have different days off. This year we need to make that work better. I might also stop to do a run around 5:30 - 6.
At dinner, which is around 7 usually, we eat together. It is a bit of a mix who does the cooking - I normally cook if we have people around. Nevada is the everyday cook. We often go and do more work after dinner. Or else, just watch TV.
We live for Monday night homeland at the moment. It's kind of all we've got. We also like Grahame Norton and Grand Designs (both UK and NZ). Moving into stockists and pop-ups will involve more travel, so I expect that in 2016.

7:00 - 7:30 - I generally get up and make a fresh juice and then a smoothie for breakfast - so like, you know, banana, maca, spinach.
8:00 - 10:00 - In the morning's I normally do some admin. For instance, we just got our next delivery the other day from our manufacturers. So I spent a couple of hours packing all the coats up for everybody, placing stickers on everything, writing the hand-written notes. Then we had a big stack for the courier to collect when it comes to our house. I might also do a bit of work on the website. If I have time on a good day, I would also squeeze in a Yoga class at my favourite Yoga Studio, Yoga for the People (formerly Bikram Yoga) on Tory Street.
11:00 - 12:30 - When it is a really nice day I will take a book and sit on the deck. It might be smoothie, or some left over curry and rice for lunch.
1:30 - I work part-time at Lululemon - often my shifts start later in the day. So around this time I would bike into work on a Lululemon day.
2:00 - I start my shift at Lululemon. I do a lot of the visual merchandising in store on Lambton Quay. After the store shuts, we put on loud music and strip the mannequins. If there is a lot of one type of product that needs to sell, we need to feature that really strongly. You might have lots of sizes. It has such an impact on what people are buying and what sells.
8:30 - I get back from biking home, and Nick has usually made dinner. We might watch Homeland if it's a Monday.
10:00 - We go to bed - Nick needs more sleep than me, so we try and hit the hay around 10. Goodnight Welly!
Nevada's Caramel Maca Smoothie Recipe
Throw 5 frozen bananas, 3 medjool dates, 2 Tablespoons Maca powder, 1/2 t cinnamon, almond milk - however much you want to put in (less makes it thick and creamy), 1 T homemade cashew, almond and walnut butter in a high quality blender. Blend till super smooth! This makes around 3 tall glasses.
