Like lots of you Wellingtonians, I'm a real lipstick lass. It turns a day from reach-for-the-bottle to Beyonce in one slash.
Autumn can be a time where you feel a bit flat and definitely busy. I know that in Wellington we don't have proper deciduous trees so we need to make this time of year feel seasonal wherever possible, from pumpkin soup to snuggly scarves. One of my favourite ways is to change up my lipstick collection. I was lucky enough to try these ones from Antipodes which are glorious and highly moisture-boosting (which is also a true blue Wellington company! Ace!).
The colours are sort of translucent yet still hold a strong pigmentation. They feel like they'd be perfect for a daytime coffee somewhere like Prefab. Best of all, they're very easy to apply which means if you smudge it a little, you won't look like a little kid with their hand caught in the smarties jar and lollies all around their mouth.
There are 12 shades - with beautiful New Zealand names from Golden Bay Nectar to Boom Rock Bronze. The three here are Forrest Berry Red (directly below), Oriental Bay Plum (below left) and South Pacific Coral (below right). The ingredients are from avocado pear, calendula flower and evening primrose seed so smell divine. I really feel these are great for someone like me who loves makeup but is lazy and usually rushing here, there are everywhere. Simple is good.
It's the little thing that make a big difference in the long run. Don't underestimate how on a bad day doing something small just for you can cheer you up. Lipstick is a good place to start (especially ones as delectable as these).
