Hi Everyone. It’s nearly the end of June. I can hardly believe it!
It’d been over 6 months now since I started The Residents and it has been growing so quickly! Really excited by how lovely everyone has been about it. You’re all amazing people.
So I thought just to change things up I would post more of a ‘personal’ post – ‘What I’m planning for the weekend’. Feel free to tune out if I waffle on.
1. Exercise - looking for recommendations
So the first thing is – exercise! URGH. With so much blogging going on, apart from the odd yoga class here and there and walking to work, my exercise regime has been non existent. AND as you can probably see from my Instagram, I’ve been doing a lot of eating.
So plan #1 is to go for a walk or swim or go to yoga. Is there anywhere you guys would recommend in Wellington? Let me know what you like because I’m always keen to try something new (as you likely can suspect).
2. More cushion for the pushin' - Bluebell Club Gala and a surprise party
Next, this is the first weekend that Saturday is not packed full to the brim so I’ll be watching YouTube videos in bed all Saturday Morning. I also need to clean the house. Matt has exams at the moment so our lounge is a flurry of papers everywhere. I can barely see the couch but I thought I would show you two beautiful cushions I recently got my hands on from a cute little Wellington company. They’re called ‘Bluebell Club’. Have you heard of them? They’re on Instagram and do a mix of pacific inspired designs, with a pirate twist. I completely adore their pirate skull cushion. It looks beautiful in our new lounge and really brings our blue couches to life ($120 for a couch and two arm chairs – flat life bargains! *smiley grin emoji*).
Speaking of Bluebell Club, they are hosting a Gala this weekend in Kaiwharawhara, on Sunday 19 June. It looks like it will be really amazing – a host of colorful arts, crafts and products from Wellington and beyond. There will be some up and coming brands on exhibition, plus beautiful traditional artists and jewelers, as well as the Bluebell Club ladies themselves. Michael Tuffery, Michael McIntyre, Lush Lane (Holly does beautiful planter plants) and Fiji Spice Queen are all on display. You can find out more here on their Facebook page (don't forget to like).
It starts at 11 but I will probably head along around 12 and then after head to Goldings in the evening – there is a surprise birthday party scheduled and I can’t say who for on the off chance that that person finds out. SO shhhhh…..
3. This love is Kiel
I’m also planning on visting Gina Kiel on Saturday out at her place in Island Bay. She does amazing art (she designed the brochure for the Fringe Festival this year) and I’ve grown a wee crush. We have some mutual friends like Natalee Fisher who I interviewed earlier this year. So Gina and I have been wanting to make it work for a while.
4. A Supreme start to the weekend
Finally, I just wanted to give a nod to Supreme Coffee who had me along to a great event this morning to kick of a great weekend at their Midland Park store, thanks to friend and former employee Tim/Customs guy who invited me. It was a warm gathering of toast, peanut butter (Fix and Fog) and heaps of Coffee-Coffee-Coffee. I even ran into three former Residents interviewees there – Tech entrepreneur Jonny McKenzie, boutique fashion-store owner Rachael Caughley and my lovely lovely Jacqui Wales who makes Libertine Teas. It was a great chance to see who Supreme had along (it was pretty loose – kind of a bring a friend situation) and I toddled off to work afterwards, full and happy. I even snaffled a Little Dough Doughnut.
